I always thought Bruschetta was this super fancy Italian concoction until I finally just made it myself. There’s nothing to it! Cut up some juicy tomatoes and fresh garlic and basil to mix together with parmesan cheese, what an amazing flavor bomb on toast or chicken.
A classic Italian appetizer, this is my go-to when trying to come up with a side dish or appetizer on Italian nights. In my opinion, Italian food is hard to come up with sides for, because most of the dishes are just pasta as an entree and doing a salad can be lame. The homemade version is quick, easy and so flavorful, add it to your rotation!
How to make it:
Cut up the necessary veggies and mix it all together, really that simple. Serve on a crispy baguette or even Texas Toast (if you want to treat yourself).
What you need:
Loaf of French bread or baguette – like I mentioned above, Texas Toast makes this even more decadent.
Olive Oil
Roma or plum tomatoes – but in reality any tomato can do in a pinch
Fresh basil – don’t skip on this!
Parmesan cheese – fresh grated is obviously best but I use the stuff in the container to be honest
Garlic – minced
Balsamic vinegar – again, doesn’t matter which…use whatever you like
Salt and pepper – as usual
