The wayyyyy healthier alternative to sour cream, doctored up Greek yogurt. This is my go-to, takes 10 seconds to make and I’ve dialed in the ratios. One of many Greek yogurt sauce recipes you’ll find on my blog. This is best with Shredded Beef Tacos (Here) as a sour cream substitute and on Mediterranean dishes.
It’s really simple. 1/4 cup of sour cream on a big burrito yields you a little less than a gram of protein and almost 10 grams of fat. This non-fat Greek yogurt option boosts that to 6 grams of protein and NO FAT. Easy way to sneak your protein intake numbers up and cut out useless fat. To cut out the tangy flavor of Greek yogurt, lime juice and salt are added which turns it into a nice creamy sauce literally perfect for tacos. There’s no downside to using this instead of sour cream from a health or TASTE perspective.
How to make it:
Just mix everything together. This can be done right before serving, or made in advance and stored in the fridge to cut down on any prep time. Adjust the ratios as you see fit.
What you need:
Non-Fat Greek Yogurt – Simple enough
Lime juice – For convenience I just use the squeeze bottle. No need to bother buying limes just for this
Salt – Kill the yogurt-y flavor and make this taste more like a sour cream
